Wild Alaskan Salmon & Pollock Oil

Omega 3 fatty acids are one of the most powerful nutrients for a lush and soft coat of fur on your fur family. The 2 common bioactive forms of Omega 3 fatty acids for both dogs and cats are DHA and EPA. These 2 forms of Omega 3s do different things for the pet.

DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) is used by the body as a tissue-building resource similar to protein for strong healthy soft tissues. It also plays a role in the skin’s moisture barrier, joint fluids, structural traits of soft tissues like cartilage, tendons, and ligaments as well as the many layers of the skin.EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) is used by the body to help regulate a healthy inflammatory response within soft tissues from stress, allergies, injury, and other things.

We use oil sourced from sustainably harvested wild-caught Alaskan Salmon & wild-caught Alaskan Pollock as our source for the Omega 3 fatty acids. Only dolphin-safe methods of fishing are used with strict fishing regulations to ensure the population of fish remains strong, vibrant, and healthy.

Each BPA-free amber bottle comes with a BPA-free pump that dispenses 2mL of oil per press and instructions for how many to give per day are right on the label based on your pet’s estimated healthy weight range. May be measured by teaspoon with 1 teaspoon being about 2.5 pumps as stated on label.

Most pets love salmon flavors but for pets who don’t we do offer 2 softgel versions. Oil should not be added to the pet’s drinking water and only offered mixed with food. Recommended to use open bottle within 90 days of opening. (Medicine cup not included.)

How to Serve

Step 1

Take the oil from the fridge while preparing your pet’s food and ensure the amount to serve based on your pet’s ideal weight range. If just starting use half this amount for the first 7 days for an adjustment period.

Step 2

Pump the amount for your pet right into their daily diet. For those who prefer, we state on the label about the teaspoon equivalent would be. Once applied put the oil back into the fridge.

Step 4

Serve with food. Be sure to mix the oil into the food before serving. This helps avoid a potential upset belly, as well as ensures proper digestion and absorption of the nutrients.

Be sure to use the oil daily to ensure there is daily consumption of the Omega 3 fatty acids. Without them in the diet regularly, the coat will not get the extra nutritional resources it needs to be soft and glossy.

Where are the fish caught?

The salmon are caught in their natural habitat of the open ocean off the coast of Alaska with dolphin-safe practices, tools and techniques, and population-sustainable strategies. From there they are transported right into the USA facility to begin processing the fish.

Where is the oil made?

Once the wild-caught salmon are harvested from the ocean they make their way to USA fish processing facilities that operate on human-grade products. From turning the salmon to a raw live fish to the various products people use, like canned salmon, fish oil, and even the scraps get used for garden soil fertilizer.

Is this glass or plastic? We use all BPA-free plastic for our containers, pumps and scoop. Does this need refrigerated? Yes! We don’t include preservatives so the oil once opened and exposed to air will need refrigerated. We recommend the oil is used up within 90 days of opening for this reason as well. How is the oil purified? The oil is purified via molecular distillation under vacuum pressure to ensure it is free and clean of heavy metals and other contaminates before being applied to the bottles under pressure and sealed.. Does it smell like fish? Yes, we do not deoderize our oils which is a chemically intensive process. Cats and dogs are carnivorous and most are enticed by the fishy smell. How Many Pumps? We include a BPA-free pump that dispenses 2mL per press which is about 1/2 tsp (medicine cup shown in images not included). There is about 230 pumps per bottle. Our serving chart is right on our label (and viewable in our listing images above). Weight ranges are based on the weight of a pet in ideal body condition. How much do I give in a day? Pets up to 7lbs should receive 1/2 pump per day, 7-15lbs is 1 pump per day, 16-25lbs is 2 pumps per day, 26-50lbs is 3 pumps per day, 51-75lbs is 4 pumps per day, 76-100lbs 5 pumps per day, 101lbs+ 6 pumps per day. Consult your veterinarian before use with pets who have special needs/requirements or care. For pets just starting with the oil or have had a long break from it start with half the recommended serving per day for 7 days to adjust the diet & avoid digestive upset from a change in diet. Where is the expiration date? You can easily find the LOT number and expiration date of your bottle on the very bottom of the bottle(the side that touches the surface you set the bottle down on). It is printed in yellow/olive green ink. What is the shelf life? From the point of manufacturing this product has a shelf life of 2 years up to the point of the printed expiration date. Once opened however, we recommend using the bottle within 90 days. How long until I see benefits? Every pet is different and some problems need different solutions. In most cases pet parents see an improved coat and/or mobility by the end of the bottle when used as directed daily. Other pets take longer, some shorter and some pets need additional support in addition to the oil. A good example is for joint support using a fish oil along with a powerful joint support formula with glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM & HA at the same time. How does this help mobility? Omega 3 fatty acids is one of many key components to soft tissues. From the elbow to the knee and even then soft tissues of the spine. Not only are they used by the body for inflammation control but also as a building material of soft tissues, and lubricating fluids like synovial fluid. Healthy soft tissues with ample lubricants make for comfortable and free moving joints. Better than glucosamine? This is a important point to understand. Depending on what the body of the pet needs, sometimes pets need Omega 3 fatty acids for their joint needs. Others need a joint formula with glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM & HA. All of these nutrients do different things for the joint and is always best to be used together. How does this help dry skin? The moisture barrier of the skin is made up of a few things, and this includes the moisture between the layers of the skin. Omega 3 fatty acids is a critical component of the substances the body produces to make and maintain that moisture barrier. So long as the body has the resources, it will use them. How does this help itchy skin? Itchy skin boils down to inflammation as the cause of the itching. Which is why steroids help with itching. However instead of steroids, sometimes the body just needs extra nutritional resources to deal with inflammation. This is where omega 3 fatty acids are important because it plays a critical role in inflammation control by the body. How does this help shedding? Omega 3 fatty acids are used by the body to support the skin and coat. Excess shedding is often a sign of stress, inflammation of the skin, brittle hair and unhealthy growth of new hair. By helping nourish the skin hair grows in healthier, it’s more resistant to breakage and the skin is able to hold onto the hair roots better. What about allergies? Allergies are tough and a complex issue to tackle. Allergies unlike sensitivities involve the immune system. Many nutrients can help the body control the discomforts of allergies such as itching, shedding and joint discomfort. Ultimately the only real way to handle allergies is to deal with the root cause, both for environmental and dietary related allergies. What about Omega 6? Omega 6 is required by the body just like Omega 3, however Omega 6 is much easier to gain in the commercial diet from the use of seed oils and what is naturally occurring in the ingredients of their food. Even our fish oil has some naturally occurring omega 6 fatty acids. In a world with excess Omega 6 fatty acids, it’s Omega-3 fatty acids like DHA and EPA that need a boost in the diet.
